Friends of Llanfrechfa Action Group
FLAG is an organisation of concerned members of the community who are
worried about the detrimental effects that a proposed development of
400-600 residential properties to be built on the site of the
Llanfrechfa
Grange
Hospital
will have on the
villages and communities surrounding the Grange
Hospital
site and further
afield.
Outline Planning Application [05/P/11806E] to
shoe-horn the first 400 out of an expected future 600 or more
mixed housing units into the hospital gardens and parklands, and
for two access roads feeding directly onto the
B4236
Caerleon Road,
was submitted to Torfaen CBC Planners in May 2005 by the
National Assembly for Wales
and Gwent
Healthcare NHS Trust.
The
implications of this are far-reaching and will have serious consequences
for miles around. FLAG is concerned that the application is
short-sighted, ill-conceived and fundamentally flawed and if left
unchecked could have devastating consequences.
